I have had to give away other Columbia trekking shoes ordered in a size 5.5 (I take a shoe 4.5). Although they were fine the first twice worn on coastal paths - a 7 mile walk up and downhill recently caused a painful big toe after the long descent, the nail turning black. This different model ordered in a 6 seems MUCH roomier around the toes, the other style was very narrow there. Yet to be tested but I am hopeful.
